About the desk

Who runs FundPlug, and how to check.

Short answer

FundPlug is a Dallas–Fort Worth institutional disposition desk run by J.D. Thorne (James Daniel Thorne III), a Texas real estate sales agent, license 0705914, sponsored by Myers The Home Buyers of Dallas, LLC, TREC broker license 9005311. Both licenses are public: search either name or number on the Texas Real Estate Commission's license holder search.

What FundPlug is
An institutional disposition desk based in Dallas–Fort Worth. Brokers, sales agents, investors and wholesalers send a listing agreement or a contract they control; the desk underwrites it, packages it and gets it to the rental funds under the federal 350-home line, build-to-rent desks, cash buyers and accredited landlords that buy to a box. FundPlug is a trade name, not a company that holds a license.
Who runs it
James Daniel Thorne III, known as J.D. Thorne. Texas real estate sales agent, TREC license 0705914, first licensed in 2018 and sponsored by Myers The Home Buyers of Dallas, LLC since August 2025.
Sponsoring broker
Myers The Home Buyers of Dallas, LLC, TREC broker license 9005311, licensed since 2016. Designated broker Joshua Edward DeShong (Josh DeShong), TREC license 0558435. Office: 17304 Preston Rd. Ste 615, Dallas, TX 75252.
Where the desk takes paper
Texas. Dallas–Fort Worth first. Georgia is off until the sponsoring broker signs a written cooperation agreement with a Georgia broker, which Georgia law requires before a Texas license holder can advertise brokerage there.
What it is not
Not a hedge fund, not the buyer, and not a brokerage of its own. The desk never contacts your seller and never markets another wholesaler's contract.
How the desk gets paid
On the disposition side only, under a written agreement with the sponsoring broker that you sign before the file is marketed. Texas law routes every fee a sales agent earns or pays through the broker (Occupations Code 1101.651), so nothing is paid or netted outside that agreement. The buyer closes, title pays you, and the desk's share is on the same paper.
How to reach the desk

Check the licenses yourself

Every claim on this page can be checked against the Texas Real Estate Commission's public records in about a minute. Do it before you send a file to any desk, this one included.

  1. Open the TREC license holder search.
  2. Search license number 0705914. The record should read James Daniel Thorne III, Sales Agent, Active, sponsored by Myers The Home Buyers of Dallas, LLC.
  3. Search license number 9005311. The record should read Myers The Home Buyers of Dallas, LLC, Broker Company, Active, designated broker Joshua Edward DeShong, license 0558435.
  4. Read the desk's completed Information About Brokerage Services notice and TREC's Consumer Protection Notice. Both are linked in the footer of every page.
  5. If anything differs from this page, do not send the file. Email the desk and tell us what you saw. The facts here were checked against TREC's records on 2026-10-23.

What a licensed desk owes you

  • Honest, fair dealing with every party, including the seller you contracted with (Texas license law and TREC rules).
  • A written agreement before any fee is earned, with the fee stated. Verbal splits are not enforceable for a license holder.
  • The Information About Brokerage Services notice at the first substantive conversation about a specific property.
  • No undisclosed interest. If the desk or its agent ever buys a file itself, that is disclosed in writing first.

What the desk asks of you

  • An executed, assignable contract, or written authority from the owner. No leads, no daisy chains.
  • The written disclosures Texas Property Code 5.0205 requires to the owner and to any buyer.
  • Numbers you can defend on a call, photos of the whole house, and the catch named up front.
  • A phone you answer.
